What's the difference between ShortPixel's CDN and a normal CDN?
Are you a regular CDN provider?
By "regular CDN" we understand providers like Cloudflare, Fastly, KeyCDN, bunny.net, StackPath...
Our plugin is using bunny.net as CDN provider to serve all the optimized images. In addition, we give you the option to serve your CSS and JS files (and minify them), and your font files. This makes our plugin useful for the majority of assets your websites has. So, to answer the question, we are not a regular CDN provider. Instead, we use a regular CDN provider to serve most of the files of your website, part of them optimized (images and CSS).
Can I stop using my regular CDN?
If you only need to serve your files faster, which is what the majority of our clients need, then yes, feel free to stop using your CDN and start serving all your files with ShortPixel. However, if you need those extra features that a regular CDN can provide (security, analytics, etc.), that's something ShortPixel cannot offer. So you have two options:
- Use your regular CDN and ShortPixel Adaptive Images with its default settings. Don't worry, there will be no conflicts and you'll also get the speed benefit of using one of the fastest CDNs in the world.
- Use your regular CDN and configure ShortPixel Adaptive Images to use it as well. For this, please check this article.
