Error "Retry Limit reached. Image might be too large, limit too low or network issues"

When you optimize an image with ShortPixel Image Optimizer, you may get the message "Retry Limit reached. Image might be too large, limit too low or network issues".

This happens when the plugin has tried to optimize an image for 20 cycles or runs and failed. The most common causes are:

  • A bad connection between your server and ShortPixel's servers.
  • An extremely large image. Try to make it smaller (you can replace it with a smaller version using Enable Media Replace).
  • Too many thumbnails to process, especially if you want to create AVIF versions as well. Try to reduce the number of thumbnails you need to optimize by following these instructions: How can I optimize only certain thumbnail sizes?
